equipping other local churches, I’ m so glad to be here right now.
So that’ s a little bit of my experience anyway.
[ WM ] That’ s awesome. And, you know, I would say, without purity, worship is as the Scripture says,“ A form of Godliness without the power thereof”. Worship must have purity and empathy behind it.

[ Brett ] Yes. It’ s because you’ re serving.
[ WM ] Yeah, they’ re just songs.
That’ s what gives the power. So, Lindsay, what can you tell us about the song“ Worthy of Hallelujah”, which is the title song of the album. Musically, it has a great pre-chorus, which only builds the anticipation for the chorus.
 Tell us about it.
[ Lindsey ] Oh, thank you. That song is just wild to me. My husband and I have we’ ve been married for almost 11 years. We have two kids, and in the middle of two of our children, we lost a baby.
And that was a really challenging thing for me. We ended up having a little boy after him and he went through some health struggles as well. And in that time, we weren’ t sleeping very well at all, and this was spring of 2021. And in 2022 we weren’ t sleeping at all because a lot of what my son was dealing with didn’ t allow him to sleep.
And so, we would be up for five to six hours every night, and I would just be praying over him as he would have these episodes that we couldn’ t control. And I was practicing for a Sunday morning and I was just playing in 6 / 8, playing an E, and I was singing gratitude and I thought,“ I don’ t really feel this right now, but I know this song is really ministering to our church and they love it, so we’ re going to do it because it’ s not about what I feel, it’ s about what God is doing and what our church needs”. And I just started singing that chorus.
And it lived in our church as a chorus. for two and a half, almost three years. And then Banning came to visit, and he heard it and he was like,“ What is this? What is this song?”
I told him that it lived in our Planning Center account. It’ s still in our Planning Center account as“ Lindsey’ s tag.”
And Banning said,“ You got to finish this”. Jimmy, Banning, and my pastor, Phil, all said,“ You’ ve got to finish this”. But I just couldn’ t figure out the right words to complete it. And Bannon connected me with Christine DeMarco, and she became a really helpful soundboard for the song. And once she got involved, it helped me shape some of the first and second verses, and then we could really take off.
The pre-chorus is from Psalm 23,” For goodness and mercy will follow me all of my days and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever”. But the bridge is a paraphrase of a Charles Spurgeon quote that I wrote in my journal that day I had miscarried my son.
And so, there’ s a lot of those lyrics that came from my prayer journal with the Lord. It’ s been so wild as that story kind of, as I’ ve been able to share it more. It’ s become this kind of anthem for Moms and families who have lost babies.
There’ s been a lot of people who come to me and say,“ I just went through this same situation.” It is a song that came from my reserves in a season where I really had nothing left.
And Jesus was so kind to give me a song that I could sing back to him when I didn’ t have anything.
[ WM ] You know, there’ s a line in your song,“ Oh, how my heart loves Your presence.
And Derek’ s song is about the presence of God. And so, there are different manifestations and levels of God’ s presence, aren’ t there?
It’ s not one thing. The God’ s presence is not one thing. It’ s not one size fits all.
It’ s he meets us in different ways and in different intensities. Yes. I’ ve learned over the years.
And Brett, the song of“ The Lamb Slain” is one that you lead. And it is anthemic. And the drummer has that cool Ludwig Ringo kit.
So what can you tell us?
[ Brett ] What’ s that? You would know.
I didn’ t even know that. I would say that we wrote it in two offices over in this building, myself and Bryan and Katie Torwalt, and some people from UPPERROOM in Dallas. And you know, I came
