PHIL KEAGGY ’ S LEGACY IN MY LIFE …
If you asked me to pick one artist that has benefited my professional and personal life more than any other , I would hands-down answer , “ Phil Keaggy ”. There are others who through the magazines ( first Christian Musician and now Worship Musician ) and concerts I have promoted and then participated in the Christian Musician Summit conferences all these years and they are dearly appreciated … but none to the extent Phil Keaggy has . them . I am privileged to have a friendship with him so I can tell you something here that I know is true … Phil ’ s kindness towers as high as his musical genius ( and yes , I don ’ t use that word genius lightly ). Phil is a giver . I know because he has given so much to me .
From my first cover story of Christian Musician magazine to teaching Master Guitar Workshops at the CMS Conferences to rousing concert performances … it has been Phil .
But this has not just been a vocational relationship . When Judy was walking down the aisle at our marriage ceremony , Phil was standing at my right side playing the “ Wedding March ” on his JamMan . When I met him on trips to Nashville , he would send me home with warm video greetings for Judy . When a friend of both of ours passed away , he would tell me stories about that person ’ s life . He was continually sending me music projects to hear because he knew how much I wanted to hear
This past weekend Phil and Bernadette were in Tacoma , WA for a small gathering to celebrate the release of the Legacy Box Record set . This is the best box set presentation I have ever seen . Seven vinyl records , 3 CD ’ s full of insightful commentary on the 64 songs included and a gorgeous large format 40-page booklet with photos from his entire career and a focus on Phil ’ s family .

Leafing through the seven-record set is really something to see how many of these songs are part of the soundtrack of my life . I have seen Phil “ live ” in concert more than any other artist , and he has ministered to me more times than you can imagine through his Jesus infused music .
