his people to admit they can ’ t fight anymore and choose to believe God will fight on their behalf . Surrender can be the most militant act as a Christian . We wrote the song from that perspective – ‘ I kneel to fight .’
[ WM ] Are you individually or collectively songwriting for new worship projects ?
[ Brian ] Ironically , we ’ re currently recording the Simple album and we wrote the song , ‘ Simple ,’ together . The song is about our life together . It ’ s very honest and exact of what we ’ ve done and gone through . It ’ s a very personal song .
[ WM ] Regarding the Worship School , can you articulate any moments where students in the past finally “ got it ”? Where all-of- a-sudden , the student understood a true worship concept that they might not have previously experienced ?
[ Jenn ] I see a lot of students have significant moments when they receive a prophetic word that ’ s something only that student and God would know , to where they walk away feeling so known by God . A lot of people come in really worrying about their self-image , and they walk away losing the care of that . They experience this uninhibited fear of God over the fear of man type freedom , just like David dancing in his underwear .
[ WM ] How is this year shaping up for the Worship School and what are you hoping the students will gain from it ??
[ Brian ] My hope is that people would experience a space where they could encounter realness , honestly , authenticity , non-religion and spontaneous worship that comes out of love instead of trying to make something happen . My prayer is that students would be set free from religion they may have experienced in the past .
[ Jenn ] I want the students to walk away with a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit , a hunger for the Word , a hunger for community , and a fire for the local church .
[ WM ] Well said , thank you both !
