WAVS utilizes the technology of a free 3D scanning app called “ Capture ” in order to create your personal custom IEM ’ s . All that ’ s required is an iPhone X or higher to capture the high-resolution 3D images . WAVS has a super easy to understand video tutorial on their website and within a few minutes , I completed three scans of each ear and uploaded them for WAVS to begin molding . BTW , faceplate options are off-the-chain . I chose the wood faceplates .
I received the IEM ’ s within 14 days and I ’ m super pleased ! Presentation out of the box is top shelf . The IEM ’ s have a handy zipper firm shell case to house them . The wood looks fantastic ! The cable connects with MMCX connectors that snap into the IEM with a secure hold and the cable is really comfortable . I also chose to add the optional Bluetooth connectivity . This added two small behind-theear units that each connect to the IEM with the same MMCX connector .
As for the fit , I ’ ve had the same positive experience . The IEM is custom molded up to the ear canal , where rubber or memory foam tips can be installed per preference . I like the smallest rubber ends … they stay in well , sound great , and feel just right in my ear .
With IEM ’ s it ’ s so important to have a good tight fit as you can listen at lower volumes and this is beneficial to your long-term hearing . Universals just cannot compare to custom inear monitors . Before I started using custom molds , I experienced a good bit of ear fatigue . After Sunday services , my ears would just ache from the fit of the universal monitors as well as from the volume that I was listening to . Custom molds solved that problem .
The day I received these in the mail , I gave them a great workout . I had some electrical work I was doing in my garage , so I connected them with Bluetooth and wore them non-stop for about 3 hours . I went to the hardware store and bought a new ladder and then came home and got set up . I was up and down the ladder running wire and working with both hands . The IEM ’ s never slipped out of my ears and they sounded good … as good as an iPhone sounds on Bluetooth .
Connecting them straight into both my interface and wireless system … listening to live music and my click track , these IEM ’ s sound fantastic . Choose between singles , duals , triples , and quads . I have the dual balanced drivers . You really need to check these out whether you ’ re looking for your first custom monitors or you ’ re needing a great backup for your $ 1,000 ears . The monitors I am reviewing are $ 199 on the website and add $ 59 for the Bluetooth connection .
