Have you ever felt like custom IEM ’ s are financially out of reach for you ? For many years , it ’ s simply been a major investment in order to have your own customs . Though good IEM ’ s are super important , for many worship musicians , most of them cost even more than they ’ ve spent on their instruments . I always cringe when I see musicians on platform using earbuds that came with a phone purchase … because they just can ’ t be hearing what they need to hear to play their best !
It ’ s not only the IEM purchase , it ’ s the added time and expense of having molds made . I ’ ve had a few sets of custom IEM ’ s made over the years . I ’ ve had single-drivers that I used until they absolutely fell apart . I ’ ve had quad-drivers and then 6-drivers . I was able to have molds made at NAMM , at the Christian Musician Summit conference and once I made an appointment with an audiologist to get it done . I remember the year at NAMM that one company was doing ear “ scans ” instead of molds . There was a line longer than the coffee line for people to get their ears scanned . I wanted to experience it , so I stood in line … checked email , answered texts ,
and made phone calls only to be told that there was a problem with my ears and so I could not get the scan done . Ugh !
I saw an ad on Instagram for WAVS Custom IEM ’ s being just a couple hundred dollars with NO audiologist required . I had to investigate .
In today ’ s society where some retail are now taking appointments simply for people to walk inside their doors and many doctors are treating patients by video call , it can be a big ask to make a non-emergency appointment to get ear molds made both on the provider and the customer .
