heart for creatives and feels called to musicians and creatives. I remember when I first started coming, immediately I was drawn to Henry because the way he talked spoke right to where I was, spoke right to what I was dealing with, all the things that I was struggling with. And I’ ve talked to so many people a part of our community who have the same story. And so, it feels like even though he never really set out to be a senior pastor, he will always be a musician and a songwriter and a mix engineer.
It feels like God custom made him for Nashville to be a pastor here and called him very specifically because of who he is. And so yeah, it’ s a really unique thing to be Henry Sealy’ s worship pastor, but I count it a massive honor and joy to do that.
[ WM ] See, I love hearing this because with so many churches, the musicians and the worship team are basically considered a warmup act, and it’ s not supposed to be that way. It’ s supposed to be a partnership like you’ re describing. So, I love hearing what you’ re saying about Pastor Henry. That’ s great.
[ Andrew ] Yeah. I mean, even that thought, I think what I was so struck by when I first came, because that’ s how I grew up. The musicians and the worship team would just be a warm-up for the message. What I was so struck by was from the minute service started to the minute service ended, it’ s one continuous flow. We’ re all just performing the same dance or something where it’ s like we’ re all in this together and the way that they would come up at the end of our worship time and transition, but keep the worship going, keep ministry going. Sometimes they keep worshiping and sometimes we cut worship short and they’ d come up and do an altar call in the middle of worship. I think that’ s such a unique mark about our church and a gift that Henry and Alex both have where they’ re sensitive, but they also prioritize worship.
They prioritize the importance of lifting up the name of Jesus and realizing we don’ t have to wait till the message for God to do something. He can do it right now as we’ ve seen. So yeah, it’ s unique and special.
[ WM ] Psalm 33:3 says,“ Sing to Him a new song, play skillfully and shout for joy.” In a sense, the excellence in our musical expression allows us to pursue nice musical instruments in order to perfect our craft. The Belonging Co led worship at Yamaha’ s Night of Worship last January at the NAMM show in Anaheim on the big outdoor stage. What was that experience like leading that night? Were either of you involved in that?
[ Natalie ] Yeah. So, this was very special because my husband, Bernie, is a Yamaha artist and so Yamaha called him and said,“ Hey, we’ re doing a big night of worship opening night of NAMM. We’ ve done it for the last couple years, but we want you to put it together.” And they gave him very little time. I don’ t remember what it was, like three weeks, four weeks, Bernie came to me and asked,“ Can I pull this off?
