The Heritage Audio i73 Pro Edge is a professional USB C audio interface that combines high-resolution digital conversion with genuine Class-A, transformer-coupled analog microphone preamps inspired by the legendary 73-series British recording consoles. Designed for musicians, producers, and content creators who want the sonic character of a traditional recording studio integrated into a modern workflow. The i73 Pro Edge features two analog preamp channels, onboard DSP-powered monitoring and processing, ADAT expansion, MIDI connectivity, and a 12-input / 16-output architecture. Rather than relying solely on software emulations to create warmth and coloration, the i73 Pro Edge incorporates analog circuitry directly into the signal path, delivering harmonic richness, musical saturation, and enhanced depth at the source before audio ever reaches the computer.
A major part of the i73 Pro Edge’ s appeal lies in its analog front-end design philosophy, which draws direct inspiration from the classic Neve 1073-style British console architecture responsible for shaping countless legendary recordings since the 1970s. While Heritage Audio avoids using the Neve name directly for trademark reasons, the company consistently describes the circuitry as a“ 73-style” Class-A, transformer-coupled design. The sonic lineage, however, is unmistakable.
The i73 Pro Edge employs discrete Class-A preamp topology combined with transformerbalanced circuitry engineered to recreate the harmonic richness, authoritative midrange, and musical saturation associated with vintage British recording consoles. Its design reflects many of the characteristics engineers have long valued in traditional 1073-inspired preamps, including transformer-coupled inputs, Class-A analog circuitry, a rich harmonic midrange, smooth high-frequency response, and pleasing saturation when driven harder.
For worship musicians, these qualities are particularly relevant because this style of preamp has historically excelled on many of the sources commonly found in church production environments, including lead vocals, acoustic guitar, ambient electric guitar, piano, choirs, spoken word, drum overheads, and bass guitar DI.
