these exercises. Relax that wrist, especially as we go faster. Keep that hand moving, especially as we go slower.
As we wind down for today, I’ d like to ask you a question that has four answers.
The question is: who will be blessed by your diligent strumming practice?
First, you will be blessed by your work here. You’ ll be a stronger guitarist and musician.
Second, any of your musical collaborators will be blessed by your stronger strumming, especially your drummer. He or she won’ t have to try to steer you to tempo because as you get better at this, you’ ll consistently be at tempo.
Third, your listeners will be blessed – whether they are audience members or church congregants. Those who may only listen to your strumming might not know exactly why they’ re blessed, because they don’ t all understand musical things, but they’ ll know there’ s something skillful about what you do.
Lastly, your skillful playing will bless and bring glory to the Lord. Psalm 33:3 says“ Sing to the Lord a new song. Play skillfully and shout for joy.”
So, thank you for taking some time with me for Strumming Workout 4.0 today. I hope you’ ll go through it again, and soon – because this is a daily journey of building skill and momentum.
