[ Bruce ] Lincoln, it is good to catch up with you here. I have several different topics to cover. First, let’ s talk about you as a worship leader. How are things going at your home church( Bridgeway Christian Church)? Are you leading worship there?
[ Linc ] It’ s been going great. I’ ve been there for about 2½ years now and I’ m really loving it. I lead occasionally but will start leading more this fall.
[ WM ] Okay. Are you in charge of the whole team and the system, or are you just one of the other worship leaders?
[ Linc ] I do parts of it. So all of the tech stuff and systems and all that, it’ s basically one of I’ ve probably ever met. He’ s really welcoming those things where I just wanted to have the and cool. So, we sort of co-lead the team. It right influence, but I’ m not really leading a dayto-day team anymore. supposed to be doing. Dylan Housewright, me often, but I’ m really trying to just encourage our Worship Pastor, does that. He’ s the best him and coach him and be there for whatever guy, super talented, and he’ s one of the most he needs. I’ ve told him, I’ m like,“ You’ re the honoring people that I’ ve ever met. He wants future of worship here, not me. So let me help me to lead more and more; it’ s honestly been you be successful in whatever ways I can.” me slowing that down. He’ s like,“ Dude, come on, the church needs what you have”. He’ s 30 [ WM ] So when you are leading during that years old and unbelievably talented, and he’ s week, tell us about how that week goes for just got the smallest ego needs of any creative the schedule, practice rehearsals, how many

[ Linc ] One of the things I’ m a massive proponent of is just trying to do everything efficiently and that’ s just probably how I’ m wired. Just to be clear, I am talking about system efficiency, NOT spiritual efficiency. Big difference. I would say one of the changes that I’ ve made to that approach was looking more carefully at the‘ reason’ for the efficiency. So, it used to be efficiency for efficiency’ s sake, but nowadays I look at it through a different lens, where I look at efficiency not just to avoid doing the same work over and over again but also, and arguably more importantly, to better connect with people in deeper and more meaningful ways. And it just gives me more bandwidth to be present with people. If you show up as a worship leader and all your time is literally trying to just get the job done, you’ re not really emotionally and spiritually present for the people you’ re leading.
But if you put the time in when it’ s not game time, when you do all your prep time and you do smart prep work and you prep your systems to really serve you and the team well and do all that initial work – then you have that ability to be fully present for the team when they get there. That approach has paid huge dividends.
