There are three ensemble settings … off , forte ( for huge string sounds ), and mp ( medium soft is used to enhance the reverb ). The TONE and MOD controls will affect both the reverb and the ensemble settings .
The Cloudburst creates much desired ambient pads that simply follow your playing . That means , when you change chords or move up the neck , the ambience follows you and does not become muddy from holding onto what you had just played . The ensemble effect is totally new from Strymon and was the most exciting feature for me . I have long been a fan of adding a drone pad to sit underneath my guitar … especially when leading by myself with an acoustic . The Cloudburst really steps up that drone experience .
I got Sam and his family back over to the house for dinner ( fajitas did the trick ) and to do the bulk of this video so we could take more concentrated time with the Cloudburst . After the evening I asked Sam for some feedback … “ My favorite feature of the Strymon Cloudburst is the fact that it can add the sound and feeling of a drone or pad while I am playing acoustic and that it follows my chords perfectly . Since I play mostly play acoustic when leading worship and I don ’ t always have someone playing the keys , this will be very useful ! For my electric signal , the Cloudburst will be my second reverb . It will sit as the last pedal on my board and I will use it to add a heavy amount of reverb for specific lead lines .”
Whether you play electric or acoustic , whether you dial tones in on the fly or MIDI control your board , whether you like saturated reverb or just a hint of it … the Cloudburst is something you ’ ll want to get your feet on !
