LEELAND City Of God
HARVEST Glad welcome female sensitivity to these songs .
Some of the standout tracks are the theme song , which appears as the last track on the album and serves as a wonderful encouragement to believers that we have been adopted by the blood of Jesus and therefore He resides in and through us and we are the living kingdom of God here on earth . 1 . Leeland Mooring has kept fans of the longhaired redheaded pop rocker waiting for nearly seven long years for new music . After blessing the church with such popular songs as “ Way Maker ”, “ The Lion and the Lamb ” and “ Better Word ”, Leeland somehow seemed to just suddenly disappear , but now he is back with a slightly different sound in his latest eleven song album , City Of God .
Although his bright tenor is in fine form throughout these songs , the sonic vibe has shifted to more of an almost gospel / pop feel with slight country undertones . It is also fair to say that this collection has plenty of female guest stars including Taya , Rita Springer , Charity Gayle and Lauren Straham who lend a
“ If I Don ’ t Have Love ” is a fresh look at the love passage from 1 Corinthians 13 that features Lauren Strahm ’ s feathery soprano vocals . The song is a poignant look at what love should motivate every believer to do and when Leeland and Straham sing together , the song just goes to another level .
“ Fall of Dagon ” might be the most out-ofthe-box name for a worship song I have ever come across and the song itself isn ’ t your run of the mill Sunday morning sing-along . Taken from the book of Revelation , this musical masterpiece sounds like something straight out of a Broadway musical as we hear about the return of our God in a chariot coming through the clouds as all of creation shouts ; “ Holy Holy . All I can sing holy holy , all creation sings holy holy . The heavens ring holy holy .”
If you are a long time fan of Leeland , this album will not surprise you with regards to the differing style and musical choices because well , Leeland is a true artist , but if you have become accustomed to his more popular songs , you might be disappointed that this record is more chill and poetically driven than what most might expect . I would not say that every song here is congregationally friendly or would fit into a Sunday setlist , but there are a lot of well written , deeply Biblical songs here . We missed you Leeland .

Harvest Bashta is the worship leader from Riverstone Church in Atlanta and is the sister of worship leader and producer Daniel Bashta . Her second full-length worship album , Glad was produced by her brother and features 11 new songs of praise for the church .
The album begins unexpectedly with the acapella opener , “ Shouts of Joy ” which showcases Harvest ’ s incredible alto vocal chops and is an out-of-the-box creatively written opener that brings the listener back to the simplicity of worship .
Based on John 14:3 , “ Rooms ” points us to the eternity waiting for us in Heaven while directing us back to the power God has over situation we may face in this life . “ Rest on Us ” is a captivating
