I sure love upgrades and Shure did a major upgrade when they created this GLXD16 + Wireless Guitar Pedal System . Years ago , at a previous church , I had the Shure GLXD16 guitar wireless , and I really had a great experience with it . In the sanctuary where I used it , there was no real interference and it served me well . However , I did have a friend playing some pretty big arenas with the same system and he would complain about periodic dropouts . The original GLXD system was a standard digital 2.4GHz system .
With the GLX-D + Dual Band system , whether it ’ s the guitar setup , the handheld , or the bodypack lavalier , Shure has added a 5.8GHz band to the 2.4GHz and the intuitive design will automatically find the best signal frequency band so it will make adjustments to avoid interference all without you even having to be aware that it is making changes . So , if your church or venue is like mine , we have many different Wi-Fi networks in the same room and between those and the hundreds of cellphones that walk in on any given Sunday morning , there is plenty of opportunity for interference and it keeps changing as network traffic changes . That ’ s usually where our big problems happened … we ’ d have everything dialed in and sounding or functioning well and then the
room would fill up for service . That ’ s when we ’ d find problems and end up scrambling to figure them out .
In fact , when I took over as tech director at our church , I found a box of ( another brand ) digital guitar wireless systems that the church had purchased a few years back and the interference had become so frequent and interruptive , they just boxed them all up and stored them away … completely useless to us .
The GLXD6 + receiver is a perfect fit on a pedal board or simply at your feet as you play . The receiver is constructed of rugged aluminum housing that has enough weight to stay put . The LED ’ s are bright and easy to see , but can also be dimmed if you need a darker presence . The bodypack transmitter is made of the same aluminum housing and has a good , rugged weight to it . It clips easily onto my guitar strap or can fit nicely into my wireless “ holster ”. The onboard tuner can be set to respond as a needle or a strobe and the output can be set to 116 July 2023 Subscribe for Free ...
