here in town and see the unity and see how everybody ’ s been so generous to allow their artists to be part of these records . And I think it ’ s a big statement for what God ’ s doing in Nashville . I ’ m so grateful that we have all these labels that we ’ ve been able to work with . It was complex when we were trying to get things established , but we ’ re in a good groove now .
[ WM ] Praise God . I like it . You ’ re building bridges instead of building little kingdoms .
[ Henry ] Yes . It ’ s what we want to do . Regarding the songwriting aspect of it , we generally will try and do one kind of big songwriting camp per year for our whole team .
We try and figure out some dates best as we can , that everyone ’ s going to be home in town , which is again , a struggle . And we do have a lot of writers , it ’ s probably 20 or 30 main songwriters in our camp . Everybody knows that when we ’ re writing , we ’ re going to bring our best . But not everyone ’ s songs are necessarily going to make it on a record . But we also want to give space for , in that , there ’ s plenty of songs that have come out of those writing camps that have ended up on other people ’ s records . People ’ s solo records , other people ’ s churches ’ records etc . We just , again , want to build a space where people feel inspired that they can come along together from what God ’ s doing in our church .
We ’ re all part of that . What is God ’ s saying to our church , through our church , from our church ? They ’ re really where those songs are coming from . And most times the songs that are written from that place , they will really resonate within the life of the church . And the more that we ’ ve found that they resonate in our church , that they ’ re going to resonate in other churches as well .
We don ’ t write just once a year , but that ’ s kind of our one big writing camp . And then our crew are always writing . They ’ re writing with everyone all the time . That ’ s Nashville . So there ’ s always people writing together . And we really just see what songs resonate with the church . And they ’ re the ones that we take and capture .
[ WM ] So , on the new record , what I like about is it ’ s “ live church ”. You feel like you ’ re in the church service when you ’ re watching the music video . It ’ s not made for a 3:40 second radio spot to be on K-LOVE radio or something . And you allow for ministry moments as well . Tell me your approach to this and why you went that direction ?
[ Henry ] Yeah . So we just put less songs on the record now . The first couple records we did were 17 songs each and some of those songs were kind of long . We haven ’ t done a record
