When I first took an Electronic Music class at Harbor College in Harbor City , California they had a very expensive synth there . It was very large and you connected each part of it by audio cables . You could route by hand the signal path through LFOs ( low frequency oscillators ) or VCOs ( voltage-controlled oscillators ) using different sine wave forms ( square , sawtooth etc .) All of that to say that what my old college paid several thousands of dollars for back in 1976 , you can now have more firepower than that for just over $ 549.00 . And the new units are much more stable and road worthy . I once saw The Who in concert and they apologized on stage that the synth sounds had to be played on tape ( along with the live band ) as the synths in those days ( just like my school ’ s ) were
too big and too unstable to tour with . Wild huh ?
The microKORG XL + is not a new piece of gear , but in starting to build my personal home studio for the Home Studio Recording Series ( on a budget ) we are about to launch in [ WM ], I selected it for a very good reason . It is one of the most successful selling synths in the last eight years . It ’ s list of features and true synth engine power is why it has been a big seller for Korg and a big plus for me in the studiobuilding game plan . Its small stature makes it also easily fit in a small studio space .
A lot of the workload for modern worship keys players is playing pads . This microKORG XL + has lots of usable patches even before you start tweaking them and coming up with your own sounds . The Sound Editor Librarian is a big help when you do step into the editing
