If there’ s one thing I’ ve learned over the course of the last several years of creating guitar content, especially for Worship Musician Magazine, it’ s the importance of giving people what they want / need.

In an effort to meet the need of rhythm guitarists, we made a Strumming Workout. It went public in the November 2024 issue of Worship Musician.
We received a very positive response( and continue to get affirmation that we’ ve touched on something important and relevant.) So by popular demand, we released a Strumming Workout 2.0 in the January issue.

Today, I’ ll walk you through 5 strumming exercises which will ramp up and get more challenging and interesting. As a special bonus, in the video, I’ ll build on these techniques
In addition, I’ ll include chords and dynamics. The 4 chords I’ ll offer are here – and you’ ll notice that they all have fingers 3 and 4 in common:
We’ ll stay at 92 BPM for all exercises, and I invite you to either grab your metronome and strum as you look at the patterns I’ m providing, or … a more effective process would be to watch the accompanying video and strum along with me.

Once you’ ve had a chance to lock in these 5 exercises and to experiment with optional chords and dynamics that I provide, I invite you to continue forward with the video as I take you through 5 legit strumming patterns, adding chords, varying dynamics, and even moving between the patterns as we intersperse them in combinations.
