WILL IT BE WELL WITH US IN 2025 ?

I read a scripture verse the other day that took me by surprise . It was a verse in a book of the Bible that I haven ’ t spent a lot of time in – Jeremiah . Then while reading through the entire book , I came across Chapter 22:15 & 16 . Preceding that was the information that a bad King Shallum had taken the place of his father Josiah , a good king of Judah . The Lord was rebuking Shallum with , “ Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness , and his chambers by wrong ; that useth his neighbour ’ s service without wages , and giveth him not for his work .” KJV

It seems Shallum was more concerned with building a home for himself ( and note , in a very unworthy manner ) than about the lives of his own people in the land of Judah .

Then Jeremiah 22:15 says , “ Shalt thou reign because thou closest thyself in cedar ? did not thy father eat and drink , and do judgment and justice , and then it was well with him ?”

King Josiah was a remarkable man . To me in a devotional sense , as regular for him to eat and drink was it for him to do judgment and justice . And because of that it was well with him .

Then the example of King Josiah ’ s life continues with verse 16 . “ He judged the cause of the poor and needy ; then it was well with him : was not this to know me ? saith the LORD .”

As regular as it was for him to care about the afflicted and needy , then it went well for him , and then the kicker comes in … “ was not this to know me ? saith the Lord .” King Josiah grew to know the Lord through ‘ the doing ’ of judging the cause of the poor ( afflicted ) and needy .

We want to know the Lord ; I want to know the Lord more in 2025 . By doing these things that matter to Him we can know Him . And in King Josiah ’ s life , things went well for him .

This reminds me of the New Testament verse , “ But seek ye first the kingdom of God , and his righteousness ; and all these things shall be added unto you .” Matthew 6:33 NKJ

As you ( I ) press in to pursue the Lord in 2025 - may it go well with us !
