we ’ re in Nashville a lot and all over the world and Redding . All of our family pretty much on both sides lives there and the church that we ’ ve been a part of for 27 years is there . And so just to do it in our hometown at this historic place that is really beautiful , was very special and felt like the hometown victory .
[ WM ] That ’ s awesome . Can you tell us about the recording and some of the guests , artists that joined you ? It ’ s such a huge project with so many songs . Yes , tell us about it overall and then I will ask you some about the individual songs next .
[ Jenn ] Okay . So , there ’ s 18 songs , which is crazy . And our entire worship leader collective is represented . What I ’ m very proud of , and something that we have gotten even probably more intense with in the past five years , is that the songs aren ’ t going on the album until they ’ re great . And oftentimes we ’ ve really given a lot of our creatives freedom , which we definitely still hold that posture of freedom . But we ’ ve really pushed our people in a big way to not settle for something , but to really push and lean in for the greatness that the song could be . And so , these songs are beautifully written and the lyrics are powerful and build faith . A lot of them even come from the personal testimonies from our team . There ’ s a song called “ Even Though I Walk ”, and it ’ s a testimony of what our artists Paul and Hannah McClure walked through . A miscarriage and she almost died losing the baby and had to have a blood transfusion . And when she sings that verse , “ even though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death , I will fear no evil ”, you feel that song in every fiber of your being . That testimony resounds in you of what God ’ s done in your life , even though I ’ ve walked through my valleys , I will not fear and it just how God ’ s brought us through . So , they ’ re really personal songs , but they really hold a corporate victory that is powerful . When you sit in the room or you hear these songs coming through ( however you ’ re listening ) we believe that they ’ re going to release the same power of the testimony the Bible says to the listener . And our goal for this album is just really to have people connect with God … to encounter God , and then in turn for them to just turn their faith and their focus to who he is and what he ’ s doing and who we are through him .
[ WM ] That ’ s wonderful . I must respond to something that you just said , and that is , you ’ re going old school by proving songs first . Years ago , before labels figured out how to work a so-called worship market , songs rose in popularity because of the breath of God upon them . There was spontaneity to songs rising within the church . There were no working CCLI charts , and worship songs really were not played on Christian radio . There was no such thing . It was an act of God if a song rose or not . So , I love that , that you ’ re doing that .
