If you are seeking a Ukulele sound but don ’ t want to learn the chords or tunings for a uke ? Then a Guitarlele is a great option . Luna guitars produces a variety of standard uke ’ s as well , but their new Uke Henna Dragon Guitarlele is a real stand out . My favorite feature of the Luna Guitarlele is that compared to other companies that tune them to open A , this model is tuned to E making the guitar to uke transition even easier . The nut width on the Uke Henna Dragon Guitarlele is a comfortable 1 7 / 8 ”. It features the Luna UK-T2 built-in preamp with an onboard tuner and it has 6 strings compared to a standard uke that has four strings .
The body scale is based upon a baritone ukulele which is larger than your average uke , but still smaller than a ¾ scale guitar . The body and neck are constructed from eastern mahogany and the lack of finish on the body and neck make for a great playing experience . On the top of the body is a carved dragon motif and the Luna logo is etched into the top of the headstock . Much like a nylon or classical guitar , the headstock is a slot head configuration , and the tuners are open faced chrome .
Whether you would utilize it on the platform with your praise team , at youth group functions or just for practice - the Uke Henna Dragon Guitarlele is a fun instrument to play that sounds great unplugged or plugged in . The guitar-like six string format makes it less intimidating and it is easily portable . This Guitarlele would be great for beginners or seasoned musicians seeking a different feel or sound . I was surprised at how much fun it was to play and it holds the tuning exceptionally well . Also for sing-a-longs where a full-sized guitar could be overwhelming the Luna Guitarlele would be perfect .

The fretboard is made of pau ferro with Luna ’ s moon phase inlays designating fret positions . It has 19 frets , and the neck has a soft C-shape to it that fits your hand nicely . The electronics preamp provides bass , treble , volume control and a tuner . Plus it is strung with Aquila Super Nylgut strings .
