KRK is known for creating great sounding studio monitors and now they are bringing that knowledge to portable speakers . For review [ WM ] Worship Musician received the new GoAux 3 Portable Studio monitors , they also offer GoAux 4 with larger speakers . The speaker cabinets are constructed of ABS plastic and the bass is ported out the top back of the cabs .
Connecting to the GoAux 3 pair of speakers was simple thanks to only one power cable and connectivity that includes Bluetooth , Aux in and RCA left / right inputs . The monitors are powered by a 60 Watt RMS Bi-amplifier and can pair with your laptop , smartphone , or tablet for mixing on the run .
Each cabinet contains a 3 ” glass-aramid fiber woofer and a 1 ” soft-dome tweeter . Also , on the back of the dominant control cabinet you have three choices of low filters and high filters . The GoAux 3 sound much better and louder than their size would dictate . I was especially surprised by the amount of low-end generated by both speakers .
The adjustable speaker stands make setting the cabinets at the correct angle for your ears much better and they fold flat for storage . Running music through the KRK GoAux 3 and other audio sources all sounded incredible and when I was finished breakdown and storage back in their well-designed and padded bag was a snap . If quality sound reproduction is needed for mixing , editing or just for review the GoAux 3 speakers will exceed your expectations .
With the speakers , stands and cables the entire package still comes in at under 10lbs .
And the KRK carrying bag would fit under an airplane seat or in an overhead compartment . Headphones and earbuds are fine for editing but if you want to truly hear a finish mix correctly , you need a set of sound accurate monitors . The LF & HF filters are ideal for pinpointing sound issues too . The KRK GoAux 3 speakers are the best sounding studio monitors in a small configuration that I have tested to date . Will they replace your high end five-thousanddollar studio monitors that stay in your studio ? No , but they aren ’ t designed to do that either . GoAux 3 ’ s are built to be portable and still give you a better sound experience representation . Factors that won me over included sound quality , size , weight , and a storage friendly bag that protects the gear ! Check them out for yourself if you need better sound on the Go !
