just checking off boxes or doing some songs to say you had worship that day . Every week give them a nugget of the what , why , where , when and how of worship . It ’ s through the repetition . It ’ s in the practical examples you give . It ’ s in the weekly invitations to come , sing , clap , lift your hands and even bow in worship that a lifestyle and discipline of worshipping God is formed .
[ WM ] Why does posture matter when it comes to worship ? How do we foster this ?
[ Yancy ] Everything in life … whether it ’ s business , table manners or a romantic relationship has expectations of posture and what is socially acceptable . There ’ s an article a friend of mine shared many years back called “ Why Posture Matters In Worship ” by Stephen Miller . You can google it and find it . That article says and articulates so much about this subject . We were made to worship God . When we aren ’ t doing the thing we were made to do that ’ s wrong . If my countenance and tone matter in other relationships , it matters with God . If how engaged I am in my participation , hands raised , or toe taps indicates my passion level at the sports game than it equally matters on Sunday morning .
[ WM ] In addition to the vision casting and scriptural revelation that fills the book you conclude the book with some deep chapters about the how-to ’ s . What are some of the practical topics you teach about ?
[ Yancy ] Yes , I dive into introducing new songs , planning worship sets , preschool worship , motions , ways to partner with parents , copyright rules and more . Lots of practical things you ’ ll be able to put into play that I believe will be big difference makers .
[ WM ] You went the extra mile and produced an Audio Book too . That is amazing . You sound so comfortable in it , it sounds like you are talking with a friend . Tell us about the process of recording that ?
[ Yancy ] Oh , I appreciate you saying that .
That ’ s music to my ears . Yes , I did record the audio book . When filming I love using a teleprompter , so I wasn ’ t worried about reading the book for the recording . At that point in the writing and editing process I had read the book many , many times . But , what took me by surprise , that no one warned me about in my research , was what it was going to be like to verbally share and articulate parts of my story . I got emotional . You can hear it in some parts . We had to stop and pause a couple times to let me get it out before continuing to record . Worship is something I am very passionate about . I hope every listener and reader hears
