SOUND CHECK
IN PARTIAL VIEW : THOUGHTS ON 2022
Here we are , walking into the new year of 2022 . How then shall we walk ? Two Januarys ’ ago in 2020 I was walking out of the NAMM Convention floor after four days of meetings for this magazine ( editorial and advertising ) and I felt like 2020 was going to be a great year of vision – the year was even named ‘ 2020 ’ for goodness sake !
Then in just weeks COVID started hitting everywhere ... Yikes ! The next two years were full of twists and turns , losses and gains and trusting the Lord in new ways - as you , the reader , are quite aware of .
Now we are stepping into 2022 . What should our outlook be ? When you publish a monthly training magazine for worship leaders , band mates and tech teams there is always another issue right around the corner . It is a walk of faith that the editorial will surface that is rich content ,
and that the advertisers will get behind what we are doing to help the worshipping churches to be # BetterBySunday .
I am naturally optimistic - which comes in handy when you do the things I do as publisher of [ WM ] and a producer of live events ( I have three guitar festivals / shows and also co-produce the Christian Musician Summit conference ).
I feel led to do what I do as a vocation and it is a gift from the Lord when you enjoy what you do for work . I wake up every morning not thinking ‘ oh , I have to go to work today ’, but actually excited about whatever is set before me that day to try and get done … for the good of the overall picture .
So , with the world still in different levels of upheaval , how do I look ahead to a new year that has a cloud of uncertainty around it ? One way for me is to recount the past goodness of the Lord to me . I will also try to raise my eyes to the hills where my help comes from . And I commit to work this scripture into my thoughts … 2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear ; but of power , and of love , and a sound mind .
Hey , an encouraging verse for the audio team ! You sound guys and gals ought to like that one . There you have it , it is like the old ‘ be strong and courageous ’ reminder all over again .
Let ’ s walk with confidence into 2022 then , not because of the year … or circumstances themselves … but because He is faithful !
Lord Bless Ya !
