drawing us into more intimacy with Him .
[ WM ] What plans for songwriting , recording , and public speaking do you have for 2021 ?
[ Eddie ] I hope to continue writing . I ’ m always writing something , and the best songs are the ones that “ got away ”. You know , the ones that no one but the Lord hears . I used to get upset but then I realized that if it blessed His heart , it was my honor to do so . This also keeps my motives for what I do in check . For the past three years , I ’ d been going into the recording studio and had been getting together with other writers . Then Covid-19 came so that put a damper on getting together with others , but that has helped me to press in more . Writing is something that you really can ’ t stop doing if you ’ re a psalmist . It just continues to happen , so my hope is to finally get some songs recorded . The project I was most recently working on was to re-record some of my old songs , some which have never been recorded before but were written decades ago along with some of my Vineyard songs . I ’ ve got the basic tracks done , and my goal is to learn more about home recording so I can finish , pandemic or not . I ’ m also looking into developing a podcast to encourage worship and lead worshippers .
getting away from the crowd to spend time with His Father . For worship leaders it is crucial that we develop this intimacy , with or without a congregation to lead , without a band , etc . In other words , could you worship with the same passion and fervency if you had to be all alone on a deserted island with no instrument , no microphones , monitors … and are you ready for this ? No stage for you to “ express ” yourself or no platform for you to share your latest song ? No CCLI , no royalties and no career as a worship “ artist ”?
Be a servant , who is so in love with Jesus , that it ’ s noticeable in His ministry . Press in , my friend , press in .
[ WM ] What are your go-to acoustic and electric guitars ?
[ Eddie ] I have played Goodall Acoustic Guitars since 1989 and I ’ m blessed to have found a couple of them that I love . James Goodall makes a fine instrument and I ’ ve always been impressed with the sound that his guitars make . He ’ s a great Christian brother that is incredibly gifted . I ’ ve had music producers offer to buy my guitar cash on the spot because of the recorded sound we ’ ve gotten while recording . I have a great sounding nylon string guitar as well . I ’ ve set up a mini pedalboard that I can use for electric or acoustic , but I also own a Kemper for studio work and a Line 6 Pod Go for easy traveling . For electric , I ’ ve played Fender , Gibson and PRS and there are things that I love about them . My close friend and I are looking to design and put together our own line of electric guitars that have the electronics and playing ability to have an immensely versatile electric guitar , so you won ’ t have to travel with multiple guitars . I ’ m glad God allowed guitars to be discovered .
[ WM ] Thank you my friend for this visit . Knowing your story , it ’ s a delight in hearing you share it with others . Stay safe .
[ Eddie ] It ’ s been a real joy to be with you , mi hermano . I hope to see you soon .
[ WM ] The church is sadly often pulled into camps representing denominations , dogma , political persuasions , and worship practices . With extremes sometimes in play , there is something to be said for living in the radical middle . What can you tell worship leaders about laying everything aside and becoming a conduit for a real encounter with God ?
[ Eddie ] Alex , I really think that this pandemic has taught me that whether or not I am able to get together with others to worship , it is vital is to maintain a lifestyle of worship , in all of its forms . By that I mean that I want worship with a congregation when I can . But when that isn ’ t possible , I need to develop a lifestyle of worship spontaneously throughout the day as well as having a devotional time of worship . Just like Moses had in the Tent of Meeting , or Jesus
