All things British share many common traits . In addition to somewhat fussy mannerisms and underreported emotion , British culture values quiet innovation . In the world of audio mixing consoles , legendary British brands such as Soundcraft , Studiomaster , TAC , SSL and DiGiCo command respect for their excellent sound quality , ease of use and controls that actually do something . However , just as with sports cars , British audio desks have common issues , such as a reputation for less than stellar power supplies , odd I / O layouts and limited expansion options . Allen & Heath , a decadesold British console maker with a storied past , has put all those comparisons of British consoles to the ill-fated Triumph Stag and TVR Sagaris sports cars to rest with the Avantis because it is essentially an audio version of the successful Lotus Exige : fast , light , intuitive and very reliable .
