• clarifying key moments,
• naming what matters most,
• and listening to how each ministry is preparing.
When ministries move together, Easter feels unified— not fragmented.
HOLD HOLY WEEK WITH INTENTION Holy Week deserves careful attention, not lastminute decisions.
• Palm Sunday – March 29, 2026 can be a powerful moment for baptisms— public declarations of life and hope as the church enters Holy Week.
• Maundy Thursday – April 2, 2026 invites reflection, humility, and remembrance.
• Good Friday – April 3, 2026 carries weight, restraint, and silence.
• Easter Sunday – April 5, 2026 proclaims victory, hope, and resurrection life.
Some churches find that a Good Friday Night of Worship creates sacred space for Scripture, prayer, and reflection— allowing Easter morning to arrive with greater depth.
Others choose to incorporate Communion across multiple gatherings, reinforcing the unity of the body and the story of redemption throughout the weekend. These moments don’ t have to be elaborate to be meaningful. They simply need to be intentional.
CHOOSE SONGS FOR THE PEOPLE, NOT THE PERFORMANCE Easter is one of the few Sundays where people want to sing— even those who usually don’ t. That matters.
As you finalize music, prioritize:
• clarity over complexity,
• singability over novelty,
• theological depth over trend,
• and congregational range over vocal showcase.
By two to three weeks before Easter( or earlier), songs should be locked and distributed.
Late changes tend to cost more than they contribute. Easter worship is at its best when the congregation feels like participants— not observers watching the platform.
PLAN REHEARSALS THAT BUILD CONFIDENCE, NOT FATIGUE More rehearsals don’ t automatically produce better results. Better rehearsals do.
That means:
• music shared early,
• expectations communicated clearly,
• rehearsals focused on transitions and key moments,
• resisting the urge to add“ just one more thing” late in the process.
A helpful goal: By Palm Sunday, your team should feel prepared— not panicked. Confidence leads better worship than exhaustion.
CARE FOR THE PEOPLE CARRYING THE LOAD Holy Week places extra weight on volunteers— especially those serving multiple services.
Pay attention to:
• tech teams arriving early,
• musicians serving repeatedly,
• vocalists carrying emotional and spiritual weight,
• leaders carrying unseen pressure.
Care shows up in small but meaningful ways:
• prayer before rehearsal,
• gratitude spoken clearly,
• food, rest, and flexibility where possible.
People who feel cared for serve with joy. People who feel unseen burn out quietly.
LEAVE MARGIN FOR THE MOMENT Some of the most meaningful Easter moments aren’ t planned— they’ re received. Leave room for:
• silence,
• response,
• extended singing,
• prayer,
• and holy stillness.
Structure creates safety. Margin creates movement. You need both.
PLAN THE ENDING— AND THE DAYS THAT FOLLOW Easter doesn’ t end with the final song. Before Easter Sunday arrives, think about:
• how you’ ll thank your team,
• when you’ ll debrief,
• what you’ ll carry forward,
• and how you’ ll help people rest afterward.
Healthy leaders plan not just for big moments— but for recovery.
A FINAL WORD FOR WORSHIP LEADERS Easter is coming.
It deserves thoughtful preparation, prayerful leadership, and deep care for the people serving alongside you. But it does not require chaos, burnout, or perfection.
Plan early. Communicate clearly. Lead collaboratively. Care deeply. Hold the moment with reverence— not pressure.
The resurrection does not depend on flawless transitions or perfect mixes.
It depends on the Gospel being proclaimed and hearts being open.
Lead faithfully. Trust God. And let Easter be what it has always been— a declaration of life.
