Reader friends , we trust you are well . I can ’ t believe that this is already the second issue of 2025 ! Looking back , I realized that we had published some really good content all throughout 2024 . Some of you may have benefitted from this practical approach to training not only for yourself , but also your team members around you .
JANUARY 2024 FEBRUARY 2024
Some of you may have missed an issue here or there , and some of you may welcome revisiting something that inspired you last year from the magazine . One of those “ aha ” moments perhaps ?
For this February issue we have set up an easy way to access the entire editorial year of 2024 . We offer you a brief and thoughtful quote from each issue ’ s cover story and then a link directly to the full issue . This is also a good vehicle to share the publication with your bandmates and tech teams who may not be familiar with us .
After publishing for 22 years or so , I still run into worship music minded folks who haven ’ t heard of us . You can help us change that .
Thank you for being supportive of what we do to train worship leaders , worship band members and tech teams to be # BetterBySunday !

“ Isn ' t it just this thing we called ‘ worship ministry ’. It can be so discouraging ; isolating . I feel like there ' s two paths that you could walk on . One of them , it ' s free and the other one is full of chains . The one that is full of chains is the one that is isolated , full of comparison , depressed , anxious … the one that is free , I think the root of the answer is found in really … funny enough , believing the things that we sing by the power of the Holy Spirit .”
~ Shane Barnard
“ The only thing I ' m thinking about in that moment is , ‘ Holy Spirit , what are you doing ? What are you saying ? And how can I partner with you to minister to the people in this room right now ?’ That ' s it . There ' s no other agenda than just that . Or it could be that you feel like the Lord has said something to you earlier in the day or in the week , or there ' s a scripture that ' s burning on your heart , which is still the same thing of God . How do I partner with you to actually minister to people in this moment ? And I think Henry is a very generous pastor and a generous leader and one who doesn ' t micro-manage . And I think when you lead with generosity and you lead with trust , it makes for really messy things in the beginning . And people make a lot of mistakes , but he knows that that ' s the only pathway to getting mature leaders that can then also carry it and carry it with care and steward it well . And I think that ' s what you see with our team .”
