KIDS WORSHIP
5 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH YOUR LEADERS AND TRAIN ON THE GO | Yancy
Do you ever feel like it ’ s a struggle to connect with your team on a regular basis ? Everyone is so busy . Adding “ extra ” meetings and gatherings can feel hard to get added to calendars . Not all connections have to be physical gatherings . I would encourage you to approach this not reluctantly or that you are adding to the noise of already busy schedules but rather think creatively on how you can connect with your team . Yes , to provide training and vision but also to shepherd them as people . Here ’ s a few ideas for that : just as rust can creep in and grow , casting vision is refining and resetting . Don ’ t forsake it .
FELLOWSHIP GATHERINGS This can look like many things . It can look like going to dinner after band practice once a month . Having fun together over chips and salsa did wonders for our worship team . If all the time you ’ re together is spent rehearsing songs and making sure you ’ re going to knock it out of the park , then this is something that must start happening . text or send another method , with a devotional aspect or scripture . If you ’ re in a season where you ’ re focusing on something specific in your leading , engagement or teaching them about worship , you highlight that . “ Think about this , remember this as you lead .” Just a short nugget that ’ s short enough they will watch it and hear it . You might not be able to gather weekly but there ’ s no reason you can ’ t be leading and empowering them to accomplish the vision and goals weekly with a little touch point . I believe this would be so impactful .
MANDATORY VISION MEETINGS First off , if it ’ s mandatory , you must plan and communicate the event repeatedly . Obviously , you can make your exceptions for attending as you hear the reason . But really try to get your team in one room at the same time . My church did this at the start of the year . Everyone involved in worship in any area of the church gathered . They provided a meal and fellowship . We heard testimony of others and how to come alongside others in prayer and provision . They shared current vision and had us get out our phones and put the other gathering dates for the year on our calendar . I was able to know as I looked at my calendar that there was another meeting in July or November and plan around it . Go one step further and send calendar invites out via email so it shows up on people ’ s calendars for them .
Currently , the team I ’ m a part of gathers quarterly in a leader ’ s home . A dessert and snacks are provided . We hang out together , especially with the ones that we may not always be scheduled to lead with . We have some acoustic worship , an encouraging word , testimonies and prayer together . I ’ m so thankful for these gatherings that remind me I ’ m a part of something bigger than me and I have people in my corner .
COMMUNICATION APPS LIKE TELEGRAM Our entire worship team communicates this way . It ’ s a way both weekly updates happen as well as bigger announcements or reminders . This is also a place people have announced “ our baby was born ” or shared something they needed prayer for . ( We have different threads . Overall , our specific area we serve , the weekly team you are scheduled for .)
CARE NOTE IN PLANNING CENTER . This Pastoral care tool will allow you to set reminders to check on your team and even allow a place for you to make notes about them . You don ’ t have to remember it all . Everybody wants to feel seen . Whether done by church staff or key volunteer leaders . What if everyone that served at your church was being reached out to on a regular basis ? Imagine if everyone was getting a phone call or having a coffee date every two to three months ? We can have the best of intentions and yet still fail . This software tool will help you care for the people God has entrusted you with , not just use them .
Speaking of vision . This is something as a volunteer I have longed to hear from leaders . I want to know their why and what , way beyond me showing up when they need me . Help me know why I ’ m showing up . Remind me that it matters . I ’ ve realized that as leaders we can get in a “ they already know the vision ” mindsight . Or “ they ’ ve been on the team for years ”. But
VIDEO MESSAGES This is something I had an idea for while coaching some other leaders . They mainly have teenagers serving . So , long meetings didn ’ t feel right to add to their calendar and a bunch of required reading also sounds like it wouldn ’ t happen . I challenged this leader to make a short video ( two minutes or less ) that they could
