For worship and praise team leaders and members on the go portability and being capable of playing and creating music anywhere anytime is a must . Enya Music has been become increasingly popular in the past few years for their affordable instrument prices and forward-thinking instrument style and composition . Worship Musician connected with Enya Music and received their new NEXG guitar for review . When it first arrived at our offices , I thought the company forgot to send all the instrument , but it ends up that the top bout of the guitar is detachable and screws on to the mainframe with roller thumb screws . The neck , body and all are comprised of carbon fiber materials and even with the built-in electronics it weights under 7 lbs .
The NEXG guitar is available in Black ( as tested ), Pink , Blue and White . The advances in the NEXG instrument are predominantly in the onboard electronics featuring 2 x 10-watt tweeters and a 30-watt woofer , with Bluetooth connectivity and built-in effects . Enya has also created a free App for your smartphone which provides acoustic and electronic guitar profiles that you can load into the guitar via Bluetooth .
The sound is surprisingly full with plenty of bass and high end thanks to the speakers and self-contained pre-amp . As if playing the guitar through the amp and speakers wasn ’ t enough you can also play your favorite songs or jam tracks through it while you play ! Output wise the Enya NEXG has a USB charging input , ¼ ” guitar output , Microphone input / output , smartphone input and a headphone output for silent practice . It you are practicing a contemporary Christian song that has lead vocals on it , there is a karaoke mode that removes the lead vocals , so you practice easier .
NEXG is offered into two different packages Basic or Deluxe as tested . The basic setup includes the NEXG guitar , gig bag , charging and plug in cable and a guitar strap . In the Deluxe pack you get all of that plus earbuds and a wireless microphone that connects to the NEXG guitar like a small PA system .
As mentioned earlier the NEXG is a great practice tool around the house or even in a small group setup where full amps and PA systems are too much , but some added volume would be suitable . The instrument that we received for review I played with our Praise team and found that it works great plugged in and interfacing
with the Enya App for sound profiles but make certain you have good Wi-Fi to connect with also . I did not utilize the microphone at church , but I did test it at the office and home and the vocals easily came over the top of the guitar sound . In the future having some vocal effects in the Enya App might be a nice added feature to add also .
The Basic package is priced at $ 499.99 and the Deluxe costs $ 699.99 . If you don ’ t want to use the charging cable , matching-colored charging stands are available at $ 79.99 . Once the NEXG guitar is fully charged you should achieve at least five hours of play time out of it .
Enya ’ s NEXG guitar is a fun and innovative instrument that has a huge number of onboard features , including a tuner and effects plus the App expands the tonal palette further . Nut width is 1 11 / 16 ” inches with a Zero fret at the top and a Nu Bone saddle . The full length of the instrument is 38 inches , and it is very portable .
