The perfect lyric ? I would say that since the Word of God is flawless , singing His word back to Him in worship would be the perfect lyric . If you ’ ve not kept up with Shane and Shane , their last several records come straight out of scripture . Their new song , released with Kingdom Kids , “ Your Ways ( Isaiah 55 ),” just dropped and is so refreshing to me as I ’ m entering this new year … s I just had to share .
The groove during the verses has a really cool vibe with a steady drive . The first line lands on the six-minor chord that really draws you in . The chorus opens up with a cry of surrender , “ Your ways are better than mine .” It ’ s really singable and the folks you lead in worship are sure to go out of worship with the chorus still repeating in their minds and hearts .
The chord progression is super simple and stays in the same four-chord loop through the verses and the chorus and even through the bridge . Although all are the same chords , each section has its own feel . It ’ s important to create dynamic differences when you have a song that stays in the same progression loop . I play the verses with a good bit of palm-muting to keep a light chunk on the strings so that the chorus will feel full and open . Then driving into the bridge , the song can really pick up a dynamic power .

The song is recorded in the key of “ B ,” but I ’ m playing it down a step in the key of “ A .” If you want to play with the Shane and Shane recording , use a full capo on fret 2 and the cut capo on fret 5 . This is a great song for children ’ s ministry , student ministry , or adult .
