THE BACKSTORY Martin , this guitar , and Brooke all have unique have significance for me . Martin has been a huge supporter of [ Worship Musician ] magazine . While they are in the business of actually selling the instruments they craft , their care for the people who own and cherish them is heartfelt . While they ’ re not a Christian company , they get the ‘ church thing ’ and appreciate the huge role they play on any given Sunday .
Simply put Brooke is special . There is something special on her life that seeps through via music . She started off a singer-songwriter in her native New Zealand , touring with the likes of John Mayer and David Bowie , prior to moving to Australia to become part of the Hillsong Worship family . I was in Australia when ‘ Hosanna ’ was released , and you couldn ’ t walk into a church and not hear it on a Sunday morning . Hundreds of plays later , that song still says something special to me as I play the progression . Like the artist who crafted it , it ’ s far deeper than just a ‘ I , IV , V ’.
A few years back , the [ WM ] team was invited to visit that Martin factory and as Brooke describes in the companion video to this feature , it is an incredible experience . Like Brooke pointed out , it was also great to see the number of women Martin employs in the creation of these instruments . EVERYONE at the factory clearly enjoyed what they did , and we were met with smile after genuine smile . Like Brooke , there is clearly something incredibly special about this company .
FIRST IMPRESSIONS The first thing I noticed once I pulled the guitar out of the case was that it was still in tune from the factory . While I don ’ t put as much weight on that as some might , it was a strong indicator
