[ WM ] In my estimation you made a brilliant move into making great ( and entertaining ) video content with your latest project , Grooves and Sushi . You bring in other stellar musicians and really present some quality music along with insights and inspiration . Tells about how it started , what the premise is , who some of the artists are and how we can connect with it through the materials you offer ?

[ Norm ] Thanks ! Yes , it was extreme fun . It started out as just an album ( my 3rd project as a leader ), but quickly evolved . I ’ d never had the opportunity to track any of my albums live with all of the musicians in the room playing together , so it seemed like a good idea to bring in a video crew to capture all of the performances . Added to that was the thrill and challenge of playing music that had never been performed previously , with an ensemble ( a different lineup in each of four separate sessions ) that had never played together . Candidly , it could have gone terribly wrong ! But the iconic and monstrous players killed it , and even managed to keep it fun . The sessions brought together a really diverse range of musical worlds , with Mark Lettieri ( Snarky Puppy ), Chris Coleman ( Prince ), Gregg Bissonette ( Ringo Starr ), Zoro ( Lenny Kravitz ), Brian Willett ( OneRepublic ), Eddie Brown ( Stevie Wonder ), Brandyn Phillips ( Ariana Grande ) and many more .

The fact that the project evolved into a 12-episode web series ( with a sushi chef serving up a fabulous meal as legendary players shared amazing stories and insights ) was icing
