One of the most important things to do in the whole process is to get a set of impressions of your ear canal . Most audiologists will provide this service for you , but it is important to get a very clean impression . The JH Audio website gives very clear instructions that you can provide your audiologist . I was fortunate to work with an audolotist buddy of mine who does in-ear impressions for pro-audio gear all of the time .
Once you send your impressions to JH Audio , it takes a couple weeks for them to turn around the in-ears and get them back to you .
for the cabling are no longer available . After discovering that Jerry originally founded UE , that was a great place to start looking .
At my church , I am the tech director , and I produce the service from the back of the room . We use headphones or earphones for our AVL team communications . Sometimes I play guitar or bass from the back of the room if one of our musicians is unable to be there . I wear a wireless in-ear pack , and I monitor both the band and our AVL communications during our services . I needed a great set of in-ears to accomplish the task of handling all of this . I am also a music producer , so I wanted a set of in-ears that had a great , yet flat frequency response so I could review my projects remotely from my studio with a reliable set of ‘ speakers .’
I also opted for JH Audio because of the technological advancements they ’ ve made , including their relationship with L ’ Acoustics . JH Audio has a few proprietary and patented technologies that improve the listening experience as well as the overall quality of their products . Freqphase™ Technology corrects misalignment caused by low , mid , and high frequencies traveling to your ear at different speeds . Soundrive™ Technology utilizes their proprietary mini quad drivers . This allows their custom in-ear monitors to remain smaller in size while housing up to 12 drivers per side . Acoustic Sound Chamber™ is a 3D printed , recessed tubing system that keeps sweat at bay and alleviates the need for excessive cleaning .
The JH / 13V2 model that I purchased have 8 drivers per side ; dual bass , dual mids , and quad highs . They have an internal 3-way crossover with a frequency response of 10Hz to 20kHz , including a variable bass attenuator that allows me to adjust bass response from 0 to + 15dB . JH Audio in-ears isolate outside noise by -26 dB , allowing for excellent frequency response right to your ear canal .
The process of ordering online was very simple , and allowed for some great customization . Once you decide which model you want , you can choose the color and design you want printed on your IEMs . There is a huge selection
When my set arrived , they came in an attractive box which came with a cleaning tool as well as a small tool to adjust the bass attenuator . Also in the box is the beautiful round metal case , engraved with my name that holds the in-ears , safely and securely inside .
The in-ears come with an extremely sturdy 48 ” cable with 7-pin connectors attaching the inear molds to a gold plated 1 / 8 ” ( 3.5mm ) input connector .
The custom molds fit very comfortably in my ears and the audio quality is superb . I need to keep them in my ears for several hours on a Sunday morning , so comfort is critical . After using them several weekends in a row , I am hooked on these in-ears as I experienced no discomfort or fatigue .
Bottom line , the in-ear experience is about audio quality and build quality . JH Audio In-Ears excel at both , and why shouldn ’ t they ? They are designed by one of the innovators of this technology .
