Rain for Roots is a creative collaboration between Nashville singer / songwriters( and mothers) Ellie Holcomb, Flo Paris, Katy Bowser, and Sandra McCracken. They write, record, and release beautiful songs with a biblical foundation- crafted for children but enjoyed by all ages. Their 2012 album Big Stories for Little Ones is based on the poems of best-selling children’ s writer Sally Lloyd-Jones and author of The Jesus Storybook Bible.
I’ m assuming“ Jesus Is Born” is the title of a Sally Lloyd-Jones poem that Flo Paris and the rest of Rain for Roots adapted into the song. But poem titles often function differently from song titles. The words“ Jesus is Born” aren’ t actually sung in the lyrics! So, for simplicity, my congregation and I refer to it as“ His Name Is Jesus” because that’ s how every chorus begins.
Adding to the title confusion, on CCLI and SongSelect( and some other places) it’ s called“ Baby Jesus Is Born”.
