response to match IK Multimedia’ s proprietary target curve. This ensures that users are working with a flat, accurate sound across the full spectrum, which is critical for mixing audio in environments where the translation of the final product is paramount.
The device supports over 120 popular headphone models, and once a user selects their headphone type via the companion software, the unit applies a precise corrective EQ curve and phase alignment. This allows the ARC ON-EAR to flatten the coloration of virtually any supported headphone, making it easier to achieve mixes that translate accurately to various playback devices.
Additionally, ARC ON-EAR features a builtin 32-bit ESS Sabre converter and ultra-low distortion headphone amplifier, delivering high-quality audio performance. The software companion allows users to configure up to five presets, each containing headphone selection, virtual monitor settings, and tonal adjustments. These presets can be saved directly to the hardware, which allows for easy and fast adjustments during live sessions or rehearsal. While headphones can be a great tool for mixing, they do have limitations compared to speakers. Headphones isolate the left and right channels completely, which can exaggerate stereo width and create unnatural effects, particularly when mixing reverb or spatial elements like ambient guitars, pads, and vocals. ARC ON- EAR addresses this challenge by introducing crossfeed, a feature that blends a small amount of each channel into the opposite ear, creating a more natural, speaker-like soundstage. This is especially beneficial for worship engineers, as it ensures that stereo elements like guitars and reverbs will translate more accurately to PA systems and consumer playback devices.
The software also includes virtual speaker simulations that model over 20 professional studio monitors and 15 real-world playback systems. This physical modeling allows the user to hear how their mix will sound on different systems, from small Bluetooth
