M-AUDIO has released their new Forty Series powered studio monitors . Worship Musician received the more robust Forty Eighty for review , but M-AUDIO also offers a smaller Forty
Sixty 100-watt version . Right out of the box we paired up Bluetooth to get a feel for the sound of the Forty Eighty system and we were not let down . First let ’ s discuss the details of these new enclosures . Each of the M-AUDIO Forty Eighty speaker cabinets contain an 8 ” extended bass Kevlar woofer and a 1.25 ” high frequency soft dome tweeter . Will they get loud ? The answer is , “ Oh yes ”, with 150 watts for bi-amplified power with rear ported bass , built-in DSP internal crossovers and EQ .
Adding Bluetooth to the Forty Eighty series was brilliant for demoing songs or if you ’ re adding in beats or other instruments for wireless audio streaming needs . Connectivity was easy with the pairing button on the front right of the cabinet . Speaker mode selection is Hype , Flat or Custom at the push of a button .
Power and cross cabinet connections are on the rear of the Forty Eighty with XLR and TRS , plus Volume / Trim control and power on and off . Plugged in and powered up the M-AUDIO Forty Eighty monitors sound big and full but also with clear instrument and vocal articulation . At low or louder volumes , the pair of Forty Eights provided excellent reference audio sourcing with just the right amount of bass thanks to the rear ports . The M-AUDIO Forty Series of studio
