his church — his gathering of followers — no matter whether they are going through a period of beauty or absurdity . This stuck with me . You can critique , argue , and do your best to add to the beauty as long as it is love-centric . So anyway , I just try to find ways , at different seasons of life , to use my skills and abilities in direct or explicit service of the Jesus gathering of folks . The opportunity with Christianity Today was the perfect fit for me and put no restrictions on all the other spaces I ’ m creating in . In fact , they endorse my broader calling .
[ WM ] As you know , our readers are worship leaders , worship band members and tech teams as we are a training publication . What words of encouragement do you have for those serving week in and week out in the trenches of their own local church ?
[ Charlie ] Well first , I love you from a distance ! And I love some of you up close . When I ’ m in a church or worship setting I always try to thank the musicians for serving us . It is a very noble gig and I for one appreciate all that goes into preparing to create music that is integrated into the whole of worship for the diversity of people gathered . It ’ s not for the faint of heart . People have a lot of opinions about music ! But for me and my house , we thank you .
[ WM ] Thank you so much for your time today .
Lastly , if I want to sign up for your “ Music & Meaning ” podcast – how do I do that ? Where do I find it ?
[ Charlie ] Ha ! Bruce , you ’ ve done this before ! Yes , I do want my fellow musicians to subscribe to the podcast . It has a fairly broad reach and so you can find it on many of the podcast sites . But to keep it simple , I would point you and your readers to these four , at the very least : CT Media Podcasts , Spotify , Apple , and Megaphone . Thank you so much and may God make good all you put your heart and hands to .
