walk with the Lord intersect with your guitar building business and your relationship with the professional musicians playing your guitars across the board ?
[ James ] My walk with the Lord is my life . There are no specific intersections with people , things or events . It ’ s just me trying to listen to God and be led to do things He wants me to do . I ’ m the same guy wherever I am , fortunately or unfortunately . I don ’ t act any differently with people in my business than I do with my family , friends , or the people I work with at my church .
That being said , I have learned to let God oversee the business . I bring things to Him , new ideas , plans and goals . And then I sit back , wait and listen . Maybe I will feel a check in my spirit and know that this is not a good time or idea . Sometimes the idea takes a turn and a plan unfolds in a different direction . And then at times I will feel encouraged to move forward or there will be a confirmation from an unexpected place .
[ WM ] I heard that set neck guitars and possibly basses are part of your plans in the near future . Tell us about that ?
[ James ] The Set Neck guitars have been almost ready to put into production for many years . I ’ ve built about six of them to test out the programming in the CNC and the fixtures and tooling . I just haven ’ t made time to figure out some of the other logistics in the building process , like how are we going to hold it in the paint booth , and it doesn ’ t fit on the fret dress bench .
I designed a new bass a while back and did all the 3D CAD work for it . It ’ s ready to go forward to the next step , which is designing and building the tooling and fixtures to go in the CNC to do all the individual machining steps . But I don ’ t know when that is going to happen . When it is time , it will all come together .
