If you have not heard of Tommee you have most likely heard his production work in movies , cable television , or artist releases including Toby Mac , rapper NF , Jewell , Chris Tomlin , Crowder , and many more . His streams now number well over one billion worldwide , as his Cinematic Songs series and other work have met with massive appeal . With an underlying hope for worship to be derived from his new Christmas release , The Birth of a King , we were able to sit down with Tommee and visit about his work .
[ WM ] Tommee , it ’ s such a pleasure to meet with you . What amazing impact you are having and you ’ re only just getting started !
[ Tommee Profitt ] Thank you , I really appreciate that . I ’ m super grateful to get to make music and do this , it ’ s a crazy thing , I think I ’ ll always be grateful for every opportunity .
[ WM ] I recently saw a video tour of your studio which I am including in this digital interview , and in that video , you proudly showed your prized memento from the video game , The Neverhood . Terry Taylor , my dear friend and old bandmate from Daniel Amos , wrote the music for that game . Was it the sounds and music of a video game , an epic movie soundtrack , or perhaps Hisaishi ’ s anime soundscapes that initially caught your ears and heart , giving you a greater vision for music ?

The Neverhood actually just came over yesterday to hang out in the studio and I ’ m going over to his studio today , we sort of just met . I ’ m a huge fan of his work and a huge fan of his art , but that soundtrack was pretty much the soundtrack to my childhood growing up . Me and my friend listened to that thing every day , it ’ s probably some of my favorite music ever made . It ’ s one of my favorite games of all time , it ’ s so nostalgic to me .
[ WM ] Let ’ s talk about your new project , The Birth of a King , released by Capitol Christian Music Group ( Capitol CMG ). It is truly a massive Christmas project . One of the things that immediately stood out to me even before listening to it , was that it was an exceptional aggregation of high-profile Capitol CMG affiliated artists alongside both outside and independent artists . Such an alliance is not the norm for the music industry . How did this decision come about ?
SVRCINA , Tommee and Tauren Wells
