Christmas 2020 will be like no other we have experienced . Chances are that when it arrives , most of the country will still be knee-deep in the middle of a pandemic and our yearly traditions , parties , church services and family gatherings will be very different or non-existent . The feelings of loss , loneliness and fear will be on the rise during this holiday season and the story of Jesus ’ birth and the hope that we receive through the Gospel will be needed more than ever in 2020 .
Enter Chris Tomlin ’ s latest album , Miracle of Love which is the first of many Christmas albums to be released this season . The collection is a sort of extended EP made up of previously released songs from Tomlin ’ s other holiday offerings alongside two newly-penned Christmas tunes .
The title track is a bouncy piano ballad
celebrating the miraculous birth of Jesus and was inspired by the surprise of a new baby that the Tomlins are going to be welcoming right around Christmas . Jingle bells and festive horns will help you tap your feet and get you into the joy of the Christmas season as Tomlin triumphantly praises the Father for the gift of Jesus .
“ Christmas Day ” is co-led by Nashville based group , We The Kingdom . Here , we find ourselves at the foot of the manger on Christmas eve joining the angels in singing praises to the Savior who is our “ reason for Christmas day ”. Verse 2 points us forward in time as we hear about the salvation that was to come because of this tiny miracle born in a stable . The chorus is catchy and sing-able , and will be sung by churches all over the world this holiday season .
Tomlin adds a few techno twists and an updated chorus to the classic “ Little Drummer Boy ” while 2019 artist of the year winner , Lauren Daigle wraps up the album with her haunting version of “ Noel ” which was first released back in 2015 .
This album comes at just the right time as many are in desperate need of anything “ normal ” and people just want something to look forward to . Christmas is such a precious time of year and these songs will lift your spirit and remind you that no matter what trials and storms may come in this life , there is a God who came to earth , was born in a stable , lived , died and rose for you .

Bethel worship leader , Josh Baldwin writes songs that are born out of his earthly experience and communicated through the eyes of a man deeply in love with his Savior . His bluesy style and southern rock roots identify with a wide audience . Baldwin ’ s latest release , Evidence takes listeners off the beaten worship path a bit with its banjos , harmonicas and acoustic guitar foundations . This album is much more organic and Americana than that “ other ” band Baldwin plays with and that is a welcome change to this reviewer . His Crowder-esque vocals give each song a blue-collar quality that is immediately relatable .
