One of the few good things that has come out of this worldwide pandemic is a resurgence in the purchase and playing of guitars ! My guess is that all of us need a musical distraction from the current state of the world that we live in . Although the worship music experience is different now than it was in 2019 , it is still a necessity to support the scripture even in a virtual setting ! Lava Music was founded in 2013 by Musicians Institute graduate Luis Luk . The first Lava guitar featuring a one-piece injection modeling was released in 2017 .
Since that time Lava has continued to push the envelope of what can be created with their technology . The guitar that we received for review is the Lava Me 2 in Freeboost- Orange . Like many of you I am a supporter of instruments created from alternative materials , especially those that are impervious to weather and temperature fluctuations and are travel friendly . The Lava Me 2 guitar arrived in a unique box that had an outline of the instrument on the front of it . Inside the box it was protected in a foam capsule where the Ideal Bag 2 was secured , three Ideal picks in a case and a USB cable . It had an Apple product feel to me just in the presentation of the products in the box like the earbuds for your smartphone are .
By their advertising and branding it is obvious that Lava is aimed at young and progressive players who aren ’ t afraid to break some rules and stand out from the crowd . The Lava Me 2 top is made from the companies new Super AirSonic carbon fiber while the body is the standard AirSonic and the back is carbon fiber . The neck is called a FlyNeck and it has been shaped to fit players hands up and down the neck , plus it is reinforced with two solid carbon fiber bars . The design of the Lava Me 2 is like a fluid work of art with rounded edges , rounded back , low profile controls on top , an elongated oval soundhole and integrated bridge . Even the rosette around the soundhole is chrome as is the logo on the body below the bridge .
The L2 pickup system is very innovative allowing Chorus , Delay and Reverb without plugging the guitar into an amplifier or PA system . The
Percussion sound receiving mic adds to the effect sound . You recharge the battery for the pickup with the included USB cable and can select Delay or Chorus from inside the of the soundhole . I had a lot of fun playing the effects unplugged in my living room . The pickup also delivered when I plugged it into my Roland amp .
The Lava Me 2 is 36 inches long , weighs only 3.7lbs and is ideal for retreats or other worship functions where you really don ’ t want to take
