together , so I asked her if she wanted to be a part of this project . Without me knowing it she told me that she loves Christmas music and grew up singing Christmas music . That ’ s sort of where she got her start singing , and she ’ s always wanted to make a Christmas album and never has . So this was the first Christmas song that she ’ s ever released . That was definitely a fun moment to work with her on “ What Child is This ” and just make a dark cool version that fit her voice , but still felt very reverent and worshipful at the end .
[ WM ] You ’ ve certainly built a massive “ wall of sound ” here , as the legendary producer Phil Spector would call it . Are there any highlights or performances that you would like to point us to ?
[ Tommee ] I honestly think that every single artist came in and gave one of their best performances of their lifetime . I ’ m not just saying that , it was really amazing , everyone came in and we all worked together to get these really big high dynamic moments with their vocal range . Sometimes it meant warming up for an hour just to hit that one note ( laughs ). But everyone came in ready , and with the nature of big epic music you need that big epic vocal performance to go along with it , and everyone just crushed it and did so amazing . It ’ s difficult to point out specific songs because every one of them was amazing and is so special to me . I think Kari Jobe ’ s moment is very special . Tauren Wells and Svrcina on “ O Holy Night ” is special , and Daniel Saint Black and Ruellle … really every single person gave it everything they had . Jordan Smith on “ Mary did you Know ?”, that was incredible .
