GUITAR
THREE REASONS WHY PLAYING THE GUITAR IS IMPORTANT | Chris Rocha
I have done many things in my lifetime but by far one of the greatest things has been embracing what I am most passionate about , which is playing guitar . Playing guitar has literally changed my life and I hope that those reading this can have the same experience . I believe guitar playing is important for many reasons but here are just a few- it gives us purpose , a ministry and it allows for us to express our creativity .
Mark Twain once said , “ The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why .” I love this quote so much especially because personally when I discovered that playing guitar for God was my true passion in life it changed everything . Unfortunately , some people live a long time without discovering their purpose . I read a book about 15 years back where a man had two fathers ; his biological father and a step-father . His step-father was a lawyer , he spent a lot of time in school doing his preparation to get his degree and a great paying job . His father didn ’ t even graduate high school but had a passion for boats so he got a job working on them . As the years passed by his step-father never found a way to get out of debt and always had money problems . He didn ’ t enjoy being a lawyer and couldn ’ t get much satisfaction in life . Things turned out much different for his biological father though . He kept climbing up the ladder and eventually made his own business working with boats . Eventually , he became a millionaire and the reason why that happened was because he loved everything about boats … see he had discovered his true purpose .
Guitar playing has given me so much purpose in life and I believe it can be the same for many people as well . I encourage you , guitar players out there , to embrace your true purpose and maximize that ! There is so much influence that we can have out there with this wonderful guitar community . So many fellow guitar players are looking for resources and positive influences . It starts with each one of us deciding to step up and be the light , let ’ s become that .
The second reason why playing guitar is good for our lives is it gives us a ministry . Every single one of us guitar players have been given a ministry from God . We have people around us that need to be shepherded and molded to their full potential . We seem to think that work is just for our pastors , but it ’ s not . It ’ s for all of us . We all have the ability to influence and mentor someone . Grow your ministry in a such a way that it can flourish .
The third reason why playing guitar is important for our lives is expression . We all have a way of expressing ourselves . I believe that is why every musician has a unique sound . Two people can play the exact same thing but sound different doing it . When I ’ m playing at church I can express myself much better with a guitar on me than without one . I ’ m so thankful for the God given ability to create and express myself through my playing .
I encourage every one of you to grab your guitar , define your purpose with it , grow your ministry , and express yourself with it - to glorify God ’ s great name !
