I remember when I saw the B8 Guitar Wireless system at NAMM. It had just released and I really could not get it out of my mind. I love simplicity. I love affordability. I love things that make sense for the average musician, and this looked like it could be a great solution.
How many of you show up at rehearsal and / or Sunday service with your own gear … your guitar( s), pedal board, cables, and maybe even amps? You get set everything up and connected into the house system. Wouldn’ t it be nice to have a wireless connection( that you can trust) into your pedal board?
Here are a couple of scenarios that maybe you’ ll identify with at least one. When I was a tech director at a large church, I had two setups for guitars. First, I had the house wireless microphone system body packs that went straight into the board for acoustics. Second, for guitar players with their own pedal boards, I just had an XLR to connect to their final D. I. Those players were left with hardwire unless they brought their own wireless. Most would go hardwire, but some would try different wireless connections, none of which I was super impressed with. When both ends have to be charged and there is no reading as to how much battery is available, it’ s hard to trust for a lengthy period of time.
What first caught my attention with the B8 is the magnetic charging feature. The body pack magnets to the top of the unit, right over the screen, while it charges. This is a fantastic idea. It keeps the pack secure and protected while it’ s charging and even if you have to move your gear. The base of the B8 is the size of a guitar pedal, heavy-duty metal construction, and can be powered by your existing 9v pedal power or with it’ s own power supply.
