The original NF 53 PRS guitar was released in 2023, and the instrument was based off of a vintage guitar in Paul Reed Smith’ s personal collection. Now, two years later, PRS has released the more affordable SE import model of this T-style guitar. WM got on the list fast to acquire one for review and ours arrived in White Doghair finish. The SE NF 53 is also available in Pearl White and Black Doghair body finishes. I prefer the White Doghair because it looks like a piece of scrimshaw artwork to me, but with wood.
Besides the stunning paint job, the first thing I noticed about the PRS SE NF 53 was the fat satin finished maple neck. If you have played vintage instruments from the 1950’ s era you know how beefy and fat the necks were, and this one definitely compares to those. The satin finish on the neck makes it much faster to play
