such as a megaphone, radio, soft LoFi, phone voice, sizzle, and zinger. These may not see much use in live worship settings, but they are fantastic for recording.
The Compressor offers Soft Attack, Mild, Hard, and Crunch settings. The Delay FX includes Rhythmic Tall, Ping Pong, Slapback, Long Echo, Dub Delay, DM Resonator, and Short Echo. Holding down the Harmony button opens a wide range of harmonizing options— from 3rd High, 5th High, and Octave High to 3rd Low and all the way down to Octave Low and High.
When Auto-Tune is engaged, the Speed control adjusts the attack of the Antares Auto-Tune effect, while the Humanize control shapes the tone toward either a more natural or a more robotic sound. While the VX5 only has two onboard footswitches, they actually function like three: the Talk footswitch can be used to activate your B channel, or, when held down, it bypasses the entire device— allowing you to speak to the congregation with no effects applied.
Plugged in, the HEADRUSH VX5 feels like a vocal studio at your feet. It’ s one of the most robust vocal processors on the market today at an affordable price. Whether you’ re using it for praise team performances, recording, or youth ministry, it will elevate any vocal performance.
The HEADRUSH VX5 with Auto-Tune by Antares is also about half the size of older vocal effects units I’ ve used. At $ 299, it delivers FX, harmonies, and Auto-Tune in a compact foot pedal— offering studio-quality sound without the studio fees.
If you plan to transport it to other churches or venues, I recommend a small, padded case— such as a Pelican-style— to protect it. HEADRUSH has truly set the bar with the VX5, and it has exceeded my expectations. You won’ t be disappointed— with the VX5, your vocals will sound better than ever
