A RELATIONAL RHYTHM TO SHEPHERD YOUR WORSHIP TEAM WITHOUT BURNING THEM OUT
Ah, August. That magical time when summer is fading, the school year is looming, and your worship team is split between last-minute vacations, back-to-school chaos, and general“ What day is it again?” confusion.
If you’ re staring down the Fall schedule wondering who’ s still committed, who needs a breather, and how many more Sundays you can cover without cloning yourself— this article is for you.
Let’ s talk about a better way to lead your team this season: Recap & Re-Up.( Less stress. More clarity. Zero guilt trips.)
First, Let’ s Talk Seasons
Not weather. Ministry seasons.“ For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.”— Ecclesiastes 3:1
Church life already runs on rhythms— Advent, Easter, Summer Slump, Fall Frenzy, and the grand finale: December’ s“ Deck the Halls and Disappear.”
So why not structure our serving rhythms too? Here’ s a rhythm we use:
• Winter: January – April
• Summer: May – August
• Fall: September – December
Three seasons. Each one followed by a moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect with your team before jumping into the next round.
Whether your worship team serves in a traditional sanctuary, a modern auditorium, or a gym with folding chairs and a holy echo, one thing is true: Your people need rhythms that care for their souls, not just their skills.
Enter one of the simplest, most relational tools in your leadership toolkit: Recap & Re-Up.
What Is a Recap & Re-Up?“ Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds.”— Proverbs 27:23
It’ s a short, meaningful check-in with each worship team member. Not a performance
