them you guys singing“ Sanctify”. They are blown away.
So I want to give a couple of shout outs for some things that you’ ve done in the past. And the reason that I’ m calling attention to these is because we too often get caught up in only promoting what’ s new.
We move on too fast, don’ t we? And so, the first is your book Delirious: My Journey with the Band, A Growing Family and an Army of History Makers. I read it when it came out and I thought it was just great and so has so much to offer young musicians. I highly recommend it to readers here. And the second shout out is for your song“ Garment of Praise” from about a year ago. I’ ve said before that I’ m a sucker for a great worship song in 6 / 8. What can you say about this?
[ Martin ]( laughs) Yeah,“ Garment of Praise”, the 6 / 8 thing has that sort of big crowd … that sort of sing along. In the world people would be lifting up their pint of beer.
[ WM ] That’ s right.
[ Martin ] And in the church with its hands in the air( sings“ And all the earth will shout”). Amazing 6 / 8 moments. And“ Sanctify” was a 6 / 8 song, wasn’ t it?( laughs)
[ WM ] That’ s right. Yeah.
[ Martin ] So yeah,“ Garment of Praise” was written with the amazing Brook Ligertwood, and she had the line of“ the joy of the Lord is the strength of my heart”. And then, I don’ t know what happened, but I was just like,“ Hey, what if we went to 4 / 4 and sped it up?” And she’ s like,“ Really”? And we are like,“ Yeah, come on”. She’ s like,“ I love this”. And actually she does this song as well, and I think is releasing a version of it soon from Passion. Such a joy to write with someone so amazing. She’ s amazing. But again, bringing an old theme to a new generation, which is the sackcloth of ashes, Isaiah 61, He’ s given us instead of a spirit of despair, he’ s given us a garment of praise, a crown of beauty, the oil of gladness. And so, the song gives me the permission to talk about it. What is the sackcloth of ashes? Our generation is covered in so much shame. And so, what does it look like when you meet Jesus? You remove that shame you put on the garment of praise. Interestingly, I’ ve done a little bit of reading about it, the garment of praise in the original Hebrew actually means the garment of salvation.
So we are literally clothing ourselves in Christ. And that’ s why the garment that I wear has got the name of Jesus written on the back because primarily it is the moment that Jesus meets us. That is the garment of praise. And interestingly,
