After building a great salad , you sit down and begin eating . Upon glancing at your friend ’ s bowl , you realize you forgot the bacon bits ! It ’ s back to the salad bar where you place a few spoonfuls of bacon bits into a tiny plastic cup and return to your table to sprinkle the tasty morsels over your salad . Upon taking a bite , you immediately know that the effort was worthwhile . That small dose of bacon bits took your meal up several notches ( unless you ’ re not a fan of bacon bits , but you get the idea ).
A single element can make a drastic difference . The original mixture might be just fine , but tossing in a secret ingredient will enhance or even transform the original recipe . The extra ingredient thing happens in music . A percussionist has the potential to be an agent of change ; for example : a drum set groove can be impacted significantly by inserting an additional rhythmic layer from a hand percussionist .
