for subtle tremolo effects on chords or single strings . The Mustang style bridge has individual adjustments so you can set the intonation accurately , which is a huge plus .
Plugged in the Alnico II Single-Coil Jaguar pickups sound clean with some bite to them . The neck was warmer , but my favorite pickup position was the middle with both pickups cooking . The bridge pickup would be ideal for solos , and it isn ’ t piercing like some Jag bridge pickups can be . The Player II Jaguar also handled distortion and overdrive well with no feedback or unwanted ambient noise . The pickups work for clean or distorted sounds and if you roll off the tone a bit , they Alnico ’ s
warmup quickly . It looks like a traditional Jaguar , but it doesn ’ t play or sound like one . Team Fender has created an instrument that is sonically different which is great . The Player II Jaguar doesn ’ t feel as fragile to me as many Jags have in the past . The body is solid , and the tremolo is much more controlled .
My favorite part of this Jaguar is the modern “ C ” 9.5 ” radius neck with its Satin finish and rolled edges . It just feels right in your hands . Fender did a great job on the pickup selection for this guitar too . If you ’ re playing in a praise team and everyone else is playing Strats , Teles or Les Pauls this provides a sonic option that isn ’ t being filled by the other guitarists .
Priced at only $ 829.99 , the Fender Player II Jaguar is a bargain for the features that the Ensenada , Mexico factory packed into it . This guitar is aimed at today ’ s musicians who want a solid instrument but more player friendly features so they can create their sound . My only recommendation would be to purchase a gig bag or hard case to protect your investment . The Player II Series is going to be a hit for Fender this year . If they are as good as the Player II Jaguar , I can ’ t wait to try out more of the series soon .
