The Player II Series is Fender ’ s most recent effort to merge some of their iconic instrument models of the past with modern player updates while keeping the price more affordable . Worship Musician acquired the Player II Jaguar in Aquatone Blue for this review . Since this is more of an intermediate level instrument it doesn ’ t come with a gig bag or hardcase , but the guitar was well packed and secure in its Fender box .
After tuning up the Player II Jag the first thing I noticed was the smaller “ C ” shaped Satin finish neck and the rolled edges . The neck plays and feels fast and broken in . The gloss polyester finish on the body looks like a vintage Chevy and doesn ’ t feel tacky like some gloss finishes do . The tremolo arm isn ’ t like the old screw in ones , that took forever to secure , just pop it in and push down and you are ready for some twang town . My only suggestion is that you don ’ t push it too far in or you will hit your volume and tone controls when moving it .
The 3-position blade pickup selector is simple to operate and doesn ’ t get in the way while you ’ re strumming . The parchment pickguard pairs nicely with the rest of the guitar aesthetics including the Fender Classic Gear tuners . The Jag tremolo feels smooth and works great
