Lewitt microphones might not be as well-known as some other mic manufacturers in the U . S ., but they do have a great reputation for sound quality , dependability and innovation . The new RAY microphone by Lewitt is loaded with cutting edge tech and it was a lot of fun testing this out for Worship Musician . Whether you are playing live music , recording podcasts or recording music we are all dependent upon the microphones we use to reproduce the sound as we hear it and want it . Lewitt has addressed two major deficiencies with microphones in their Ray model . AURA technology levels out your sound when you are close to the microphone and brings up the audio level when you are further away . What this means is that you are able to achieve a consistent audio level output regardless of your proximity to the microphone . I don ’ t know how AURA does this without adding ambient sound , but somehow it does thanks to the laser beams that are emitted from the mic to set determined distances .
This feature is especially beneficial for Live and Recorded music , and it delivers a consistent base line level even when you move in close or backout from the microphone . Ideal for Podcasts or other spoken word instances so that the voices maintain the same sound level and don ’ t override the other or go to quiet during a discussion . AURA is initiated when you engage the button on the front of the mic .
RAY also has a built in Mute function , which doesn ’ t sound like that big of a deal at first . The difference is that by holding the Mute button you can set the distance from RAY and when the mic will mute your voice . So , if you are singing and want to set the threshold at 12 inches from the microphone , when you exceed that distance , the mic will automatically Mute . Then when you come back into the distance set the mic will come back on . There is a visual monitor on the front of the mic that shows you how close or how far away you are from the microphone . The two sensors on either side of the distance monitor must determine your set distance .
When I tested the microphone out the AURA feature and Mute features were simple to navigate and worked perfectly . The mute setting
